GEAR UP

So many cool things have percolated out of Mom’s Kitchen Handbook over the past several months, I’m pinching myself. Among them is my collaboration with the fine folks at Pottery Barn Kids, one of my backyard brands here in San Francisco. We’ve been working together on a “back-to-school” season primer of sorts, to help moms and kids ease into the new school year. As part of that, I developed 15 new recipes for weekday breakfasts, lunches and snacks, such as the goodies pictured below. You can find the recipes here.

I also did something I’ve never done before: cooking videos, which was an exciting and wholly terrifying new venture for me. Perhaps best of all about the partnership is that I’m now armed with a boatload of excellent Pottery Barn Kids loot that I’ll be offloading to lucky readers over the next couple of months. Here’s the drill:

Starting next week, I’ll be announcing a giveaway of back-to-school essentials: backpacks, lunchboxes, snazzy containers, and so forth. Stay tuned for details on that. Also, all new subscribers from Saturday July 30 through the end of August will be entered to win one of their darling Kleen Kanteens (in the photo above) in a weekly giveaway. So if you haven’t signed up to get my posts via email, now is a good time to do that.

I love the recipes and the videos are great! The taco salad is a perfect alternative to caesar which I think my kids are getting sick of.

I just watched the kettle corn video, and I loved both the recipe as well as the performance by you and your two beautiful daughters. I’m so glad you are getting some recognition, as I love your blog! (On a totally unrelated note, I love your daughters’ names, partially because Rose is my 85 year old mom’s name, and her older sister’s name is Virginia).
