Ok hot mamas, it’s time to get your holiday glamour on.

As I said last week, today marks the one year anniversary of Mom’s Kitchen Handbook. It’s been a fantastic venture. In addition to getting to know so many of you, I’ve also just signed a cookbook deal with Chronicle Books (yippee!), was included among the Top Favorite Mom Food Blogs by the charming website Red Tricycle, and was named “Mom of the Month” by (the best part of which is that my husband is now calling me “Miss December”).

So, in thanks, I’m hosting a Gratitude Giveaway. One lucky reader will win her choice of jewelry from the collection of my talented friend Deanna Abney of Circadian Studios. Deanna’s work is sold in some of San Francisco’s finest boutiques (the hoops I’m wearing in my blog photo are hers, of course). She has generously given the green light for the winner to have her pick of one pair of earrings, a ring, bracelet, or necklace. Here are a just a few of my favorites:

In addition, I’ll select five winners to receive a gift bag of Mom’s Kitchen Handbook’s own homemade granola. Ok, so it’s not jewels, but consider the fact that the stuff goes for about $100 a jar at our annual school auction.

You can enter one of three ways: 1) Leave a comment below saying anything or everything you are grateful for 2) Get onto my Facebook Fan page and “like” it. 3) Follow me on Twitter (@katiemorford). You can up your odds by doing all three (or two) of these things. I will count each as one “chance” for entry. If you’ve already “liked” me on Facebook, just let me know when you leave a comment and I’ll count that as an entry.

The deadline for entries is midnight PST Friday December 16. You must be 18 years or older to win and live in the United States. And you can’t be my mother (or other close relative). Sorry, mom.

I am so happy for you, Katie! You’ve done a great job with this blog, and are inspiring to moms (and dads and other caregivers/feeders) all over the country. I now have some actual data when I talk to people about food facts, as well as some great family friendly recipes. And so for that, and for the family I feed, I am grateful!

I am also thankful for Moms like YOU who help me keep a healthy focus for my family with a beautiful, classy blog such as this! I am also thankful that I found a part time energy business to help support my income so that I may be able to save money and earn a substantial income when my 5 year old daughter starts school and so that I can be home for her when she returns from school! make the time to give to friends too.

My husband and I have been discussing the deluge of holiday stuff our children will receive this month as they are the only grandchildren for 3 sets of grandparents.

It got me thinking how lucky we are to have such a happy, stable, and financially secure family. Something I never had growing up with my single mother. Our life was not what she chose, just what happened and through it all we were happy somehow.

I am thankful for having a mother who got me through a tough start and taught me to enjoy the life you get. There’s always something good in it. I shall enjoy watching the grandparents spoil away this month!

I am grateful for San Francisco’s spirit of creativity and collaboration. I would not be the woman, mother, friend or entrepreneur I am today without the influence of this wonderful city and all the people who make it GREAT. Thanks for being a part of that spirit, Katie.

I have already liked your facebook page and boycott Twitter :)

I’m very grateful I got to see two of your beautiful daughters on Saturday! I’m also grateful for all the great Mom’s who I got to hang out with, who always inspire me!

I am very grateful for the update on spaghetti with clam sauce recipe! That was always my request for my birthday meal. When I finally got my mom’s recipe, it was terrific, but OMG the amount of butter and oil made it a very very special occasion recipe! I’m making yours tonight!
