I’ve made many a breakfasts out of my kids’ crusts of burnt toast, last spoonfuls of oatmeal gone cold, and scraps of scrambled egg left behind once they’ve headed out the door for school. Embarrassing, yes, but I imagine I’m not the only mother so busy going about the business of caring for kids (and nourishing them well) that I sometimes don’t care so well for myself. It’s a fact borne out in recent research by the International Food Information Council which found that two-thirds of parents worry more about their children’s diets than their own.
