Protecting Hands From Hot Pots

How many times have you grabbed a hot pot handle forgetting that it was still, well, hot. This is a trick I learned from my brother, a restaurant chef, that is standard practice in professional kitchens. Anytime you walk away from a pot or a baking pan that you’ve just pulled from the oven, set a kitchen towel on any steamy handles or lids. This serves as a reminder to you, and anyone else floating around the kitchen, to use the pot holders. It’s kept all the little (and not-so-little) hands in our kitchen safe from burns ever since. Oh, and be sure to keep dish towels far and away from any stove-top flames!
