USDA’s My Plate

Here you see the USDA’s new “My Plate” guide for healthy eating. They’ve been niggling around with various models over the years, some have been more user friendly than others. This time, I think they’ve done a pretty good job of illustrating what a healthy diet looks. I take issue with the use of the word “Protein” since a lot of folks may not know what that means. Foods that fall into this category include fish, chicken, tofu, meat, beans and legumes.
The graphic is worth printing out and sharing with your kids. For a copy and to learn more about the new guidelines go to choosemyplate.gov.
