Of all the meals in our house, breakfast is the one that gets the most pushback from my kids. I’ve heard everything from “I’m not hungry,” to my most recent favorite, “breakfast just isn’t my thing.” Ironic since it’s also the one meal that I really and truly want them to eat. No appetite at dinner? No sweat. But walk out the door in the morning with an empty stomach? Not so fast. What I’ve found on those days, is that if I take the time to prepare something tasty and manage to get it front of them, they usually find their appetite and ultimately, bound out the door energized. The challenge often is coming up with fresh ideas.
Here are ten good ones.
What ideas do you have for easy everyday breakfast?
OUT-THE-DOOR BREAKFAST SANDWICH
CREAMY DREAMY BANANA DATE SHAKE

I make homemade yogurt drinks by putting plain yogurt, fruit puree and milk into a bottle and shaking it up (depending on the sweetness of the fruit, I occasionally add a drop of maple syrup). Toss in a straw and it can be consumed on the go.
Hi Kara, Thanks for the comment. I like the idea of the shaken smoothie. So simple. What do you use for fruit purees?
Quite a dilemma~~~I like is a sliced apple, a wedge of cheese ( or hard boiled egg peeled & salted), some nuts & perhaps a bit of dried fruit.
I love the idea of overnight oats, but I’ve wondered about food safety issues with the food sitting in the temperature danger zone throughout the night. Thoughts?
Hi Kathleen, If you are concerned about food safety, you can always put the oats in the fridge overnight. Thanks for the comment.
I have loved Banana Peanut butter & Nutella shakes since college (revisited during my last pregnancy) so I will have to try the dreamy banana date shake, yum!
Ooohhh…Nutella in a shake. Yum!
